I felt quite honoured photographing the courageous Zahra Naleie; a Dutch Somali activist who speaks out against female genital mutilation. Which still is, believe it or not, a big concern world wide! Some horrifying statistics …… it's estimated that over 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone female genital mutilation in countries where the practice is concentrated. 😢And there are an estimated 3 million girls at risk of undergoing female genital mutilation every year…. 😱This happens in Western countries too, even though it’s strictly forbidden... #womansrights 💪 #algemeendagblad
